JUNE 8th 2001--NEW HEINZ PHOTO:

Many thanks to Pete Miller for the use of this rare photo cheers Pete.

This Photograph was taken in 1962 outside IBC studio Portland Place.September 10th 1962. Where Peter Miller(Lead Guitar),Tony Webster and Heinz had just recorded with Marty Wilde a 45 called. Ever Since You Said Goodbye/Send Me The Pillow You Dream On-Philips 326546BF 1962.Rather odd considering Heinz was Big with The Tornados. Clem Cattini played Drums on The Track. But he must of sneaked off

NEW  TORNADOS COMPACT DISK RELEASE:

Another Compact Disc release from Sanctuary records.I won't bother putting an image up, as it is the ubiquitous photo used on both Tornados EP's.  Why could they not use a new photo. This CD has been pre-mpted by the Repetoire Release the Complete, though the sound is better on this one. Title "Ridin' The Wind" An Anthology...Copious Notes and a couple of rare photos. At least this release answered the mystery of "Shakedown/George Dick " a released  muted in the 1960's Fan Club newsletter.for Years people have been referring to Shakedown as Cyclone....This CD is only buyable from the point of view of the unreleased some of which have been released on an earlier CD "Galactic Instrumentals Vol1" namely  Blackpool Live medley this version has better sound though same people released these CD's and "Theme From Lawrence Of Arabia" We then have "Sidewalk Serenade" also referred to as Dancing Piano and Party Spirit sometimes called Joe's Theme..Two Vocals are included "Fortune Teller" and Its Alright" both very poor Vocals .I was hoping this Cd would say who sang the Vocals no such Luck..Well recorded and far better than the versions knocking about. They could of included a excellent version o "Costamonger Demo"Also included is "Lullaby Of The Stars" truly one of the greatest ever Tornados Tracks sadly I have yet to here a version that does not skid all over the place.I have a better version of this myself. The Vocal "No More Me & You" a brilliant Psyche Song that to me proved more than ever Joe was ahead 0f The Game this record is 30 Years ahead of its time pre-mpting Oasis everyone.Shame no pure master has ever been found. Incidentally the Blackpool Medley includes Telstar which sounds more akin to Reginald Dixon and Exodus which is a very good version, and a version of Czardas "Stuart Taylor" on lead Guitar.CD also includes the USA version of Ridin' The Wind, different mix and an SFX start put in by USA Engineers..So the CD includes the complete Tornados repetoire plus  10 unreleased tracks excellent value for money and the cornerstone of any Tornados CD collection.

CD is on Castle  CMDDD 428 2002.Sanctuary Records

other CD with some of the unreleased on is-

The Joe Meek Collection Intergalatic Instro's Diamond Records  GEM CD 002 1996

APRIL 2006  Stuart Taylor  Dies  after a  short  illness

Never got to know Stuart but  spoke to him on  the phone  once  he was  involved  with Ray Randalls  Tornados  in Tribute  CD  304

September  05  2006

The  New  CD  Tornados  In Space  which was  private pressing by  Clem and His  Tornados 5 Years ago and has  been on sale on my site for ages-I am now told  By Clem That  the  CD is being released  by  "Secret  Records "  and going  on general issue  so look out for that I will add  more  when I Can.The Tornados are not doing  many gigs  now  -Clem  goes  out  gigging  on his own with a new  version of the Pirates and various other  Bands look under  Gig Guide for any up coming gigs---Heinz  has  been gone  6 Years  now  does not  seem like 5 minutes  when I attended  the  Funeral-also Alan Caddy   there is a new  Joe Meek Compilation out called  Telstar  the Hits  Of Joe  Meek  with guess  what Telstar on  I have discovered an unreleased  version Of Is That A Ship I hear  with Vocals on in stereo  -brilliant version  should of released  that version had  it in my tapes  all the while  jogging along in the Car the other  Day playing the Tornados unreleased  Tape  and I suddenly realised  that  this was a totally different version brill  I will put it on the site soon

FEBRUARY  15TH  2007:

well a new  instrumental  CD out  called   Vampires  ,Cowboys  Spacemen  & Spooks- 60  tracks  of  Joe  Meek  sounds  but  that  is just  it  I have  most  of these  tracks  in their  original form  the  remastering  has  destroyed  Joes  Sound which is a pity  thank God  I have  the originals-  The  Track  TomCats  Tom Tom Cats  is  certainly  No Joe  Meek  sound  not  to me  anyway...  Chico  Arnez  is spelt wrong  its  Arnez  not  Arnaz---  and  I am dubious about  the  Tornados  Stereo  there  is  version of  Telstar  stereo on the  web  done or fiddled  by  some  Joe Meek  fanatic  like  myself  and  I think this is it  unless  provenance  is proved  I remain a  Doubting Thomas. Overall the  CD  package  is great  but a new  fan  of  Joe  Meeks  will not  realise  the  sound  has  been cleaned  up too much.... these  are  all from  vinyl anyway  no master  tapes  except  maybe  for the  unreleased ..Listened  to the  Program   On Radio  two about  Joe  with Clem  Roger  talking  and  Dave  Stewart  trying  to  break  down  the  Recording  of Telstar  as  if  Dave.  way  out  I think,  just  leave  it alone....  the  program last  night  was  better  than the first  which  had  the usual trivial  stuff  Joe  was  Dressed as  girl etc John Repsch desscribed  Joe  as  using  Matchsticks  and  Rubber  Bands   rather  off  the  mark  I think though I see  the point  he  was  making   Clem  reckoned  he  splashed  in the  Bath all the  time when recording   ..  probably  was  who knows---Also  A  New  Heinz  CD   nothing  not  been  released before  except  a  tormented  version of  Questions  I Can't Answer which is  really  punky  before  punk and a  version of  Hound  Dog  recorded in The  Beat Room  program  from T.V.  also a  unreleased  RGM  recording  of Ritchie  Valens  Come  On Lets  Go"  nothing  the  Joe Meek  Fan has  not  in his  or  her  collection..

The  Spooks CD  contains  Exodus  undubbed  false  start-  and supposedly  Jungle  Fever  In Stereo--I know  Alan  Blackburn  told  me  many Years  ago  he  had  heard a  Stereo  version of  Telstar  in the  Cliff  Cooper  tapes .. maybe  that  is the  one on the  CD--CD  also includes  Ridin' The Wind  UK  version well they  are the  same really this is stated  UK version as  Opposed  to USA  Version  all they  the  States  did  was  add  sfx  to the  start  of the  release  there in the  USA.. nothing  else  different

FEBRUARY  17TH 2007

Found  this  record  yesterday   a  version  of  Ice  Cream  Man  by t Kai Winding  on verve  records   usa  pressing  trys  to get the  Joe Meek  Tornado  sound  but  fails  a bit  tinny not  bad  though  makes a  change  from  all the  covers  of  Telstar

FEBRUARY  21ST 2007

New  Heinz  Cd  Out  Just  Like Eddie  2  CD   as  above see  details in Heinz  Tribute  Section of  Home  Page what happened  to Duncan  Eaton

AUGUST 21ST  2007

Film  Of  Joe  Meek  Now  Being  Shot  Lets  Hope  it  is better  than the  Play-Unfortunately  Films  tend  to sensationlise and  this  will  be  NO  different.Whether  it  will enhance  Joe  Meeks's  Reputation  or the  People  who  star  in it  and  make  it-The  writers etc. Lets  Face  it Joe made  Peoples  names  in the  1960's  and  he  is still doing  it  Now-However  I really  hope  it is a  Film  I can  go and enjoy but  I have a  horrible  feeling  it  will be  all about  Madras  Place  Joe  dressing  up as A  Girl  when  he was  Young etc  etc I also Hope that they do Not  Portray  Heinz  as  they did in the  Play.Had  Heinz  Been  alive  they  would  never  of got  away  with  it. So  fingers  crossed
