TRIBUTE  TO HEINZ:

THE FALCONS HEINZ FAR LEFT- NORMAN HALE ON KEYBOARDSHEINZ ON THANK YOUR LUCKY STARSTORNADOS WITH TAB MARTIN IN DID NOT LAST LONG

A very ironical title. Heinz made an Album "Tribute To Eddie". Finally it has happened what everybody had whispered for so long. Heinz died on Friday April 7th 2000. One is immediately reminded of Joe Meeks "In April". I don't think he had this in mind though. Heinz Burt born in Hargen Germany in 1942. To a German Mother and English Father.. He came to England in 1945 and settled in Southampton. In the late 1950's he formed a group with Norman Hale on Keyboards. They called themselves the Falcons Later they auditioned at Joe Meeks studio. 304 Holloway Road North London. Joe Meek immediately became infatuated with Heinz. The Tornados followed with Telstar.  A hit in 17 Countries worldwide, and No.1 in The USA. A first for a UK Group.. Heinz then embarked on a solo career, and scored with his infectious "Just Like Eddie". This was followed by a few minor hits.Heinz was a great showman and a hard worker. No great talent. His cause in the early days was not helped by being put on Tours by Joe Meek. With Gene Vincent, Jerr y Lee Lewis. Yet his determination, and guts saw him through. He leaves some good tracks. On The Decca aand Columbia label. He toured with the Wildboys. He had Ritchie Blackmore on Lead Guitar. Heinz real name was Swartze. Heinz George Swartze. Heinz told me Swartze means Black so I suppose in English his name is, Heinz Black... He took to the Stage in The Seventies appearing with Helen Mirren in Hens Teeth, at the Wyndham Theatre. After various attempts at touring and comebacks. He finally contracted Multiple Sclerosis exacerbated by extreme Alcoholic problems. Few helped him, many lamented his condition He is survived by His Brother, Sister and 88 Year Old Mother.
